With the rapid development of wireless technology, a growing number of wired users become the mobile Internet users.At the same time the development of mobile Internet has brought up higher requirements on the existing mobile technology. As an important component of the mobile technology, the performance of mobile handover will directly impact on the development of mobile Internet.At present, the work to optimize the handover technology is focused on how to reduce the handover latency and the rate of packet loss, this thesis is also moving to the direction to improve and optimize the fast handover mechanism.The standard fast handover has the characteristic of low latency, but there is a big gap between the maturity degree of handover and the actual requirement. So, on the side of channel scanning,this thesis presents a improved selective-scan algorithm.On the side of threshold choicing,the thiese presents the method which takes the mean value of the SNR to eliminate the impact of fuzzy decay.In order to adapt to the high-speed movement, it is presented in the thesis to add buffer mechanism in PAR to reduce the rate of packet loss. Then implement its simulation by NS-2.The simulation results show that the improved fast handover is more smoothness than the standard fast handover in the situation of high-speed movement.
