Study On Collection Development Strategies Of Chinese Library In Ubiquitous Knowledge Environment

After a decade of efforts,the digital library research has made great progress,In June 2003,the United States National Science Foundation(NSF) published the famous report of"Knowledge Lost in Information".The future of digital library was described as building the"Ubiquitous Knowledge Environment"in the report,"Ubiquitous Knowledge Environment""is a new concept,is by the network facilities,hardware,software,information resources,and a new generation of organic composition of scientific knowledge base structure.In the circumstances,knowledge and communication mode,academic communication system and the user's information demand are changed greatly,the library readers obtain information is no longer a major channel for readers more and more from library,in this case,we have to rethink the collection development of library.Through the literature investigation,internet survey,comparative analysis,the methods of chart,this paper describes the concept of ubiquitous knowledge environment,analyses the characteristics of the ubiquitous knowledge environment,studies the ubiquitous knowledge environment the user's information demand of the structure,characteristics and behavior rule, analyzed the ubiquitous knowledge environment in library collection development,and puts forward some problems and opportunities of the ubiquitous knowledge environment of library collection development in China.This paper studies the main content includes the following aspects:(1)Introducing the concept of ubiquitous knowledge environment,analyses the characteristics of the ubiquitous knowledge environment,"everywhere"and"instant","for"and"interaction","essential"features.(2)Study the user's information demand of the structure,characteristics and behavior rules under the ubiquitous knowledge environment.In ubiquitous knowledge environment the user's information demand and find the main point,the method of using information resources are a significant change,information retrieval and presents the disintermediation, specialization and non-intelligence,etc,information demand develops further.(3)Analysis the problems and opportunities of library collection development need face in the ubiquitous knowledge environment.In ubiquitous knowledge environment,our library collection development need facing the main problems including resource shortage,resources integration,lack of cooperation,insufficient to the reader demand research,the challenge to service method and way,and etc.But at the same time open access resource,the rapid development of computer technology,communication technology,network technology and digital technology for funds of library and tension brought new opportunities.(4)Puts forward strategies of library collection development in China in the ubiquitous knowledge environment.In the information resource construction,the libraries should completely get rid of out of the idea of"big and all and small and all".In the allocation of funds,the hardware,software and network resources need be considered and constructed simultaneously.Strengthen construction of secondary document to improve the recall ratio. Strengthen construction of primary document to constructing the literature guarantee system, Strengthen the utilization of open access resource.Unified plan the resource construction and service.Construct the information sharing space based on ubiquitous knowledge environment, etc.
