Softswitch technology is the core technology of Next Generation Network (NGN). Acted as the controlling part of NGN, softswitch provides call and connection control function for NGN services with real-time requirements. Currently, softswitch technology is still in the process of gradual maturation. So, actively carrying out relevant research on softswitch has positive significance on perfecting NGN framework and promoting the evolution of the existing telecommunication network to the NGN.Call control is the core function of softswitch, current call control model is lack of media carrying capacity, multi-service supporting ability and multi-network integration supporting ability, against these disadvantages, according to the design requirements of softswitch call control model, this thesis is based on intelligent network call control model, and used modern computer technology and software design methods, it established a softswitch call control model. The main research work are as follows:1. Made an intensive study on intelligent network call control model, analysed its deficiencies and the advantages of using softswitch technology.2. According to the design requirements and design thoughts of softswitch call control model, adopted hierarchical and modular design methods, completed the general function structure design of softswitch call control model, functional structure mainly consists of basic call processing module, media gateway controlling module, advanced call processing module, multi-protocol adapter module and call supporting module, among these modules, basic call processing module is the core module to achieve call control functions;3. The basic call processing module is divided into two modules: Terminal sub-module and Trunk sub-module. Terminal sub-module implements the mainly call control functions, it is the focus of this thesis work. Trunk sub-module is used to implement route functions. Made a detailed design on Terminal sub-module by using abstract layering, driven by table, uniform resource management and component based construction design methods.4. Used terminal simulation software and package capturing software, made basic call test and call forwarding service test, the results showed that the model could meet the basic call and general services needs.
