The entry to WTO brings opportunities as well as austere challenges to our household appliances industry enterprises; the household appliances enterprises has been confronted with not only continuous changes of market consumption subject, supply & demand relationship, needs of consumers etc, but also with the great challenge caused by the foreign market swarming into domestic market and surviving difficulties of domestic enterprises in foreign market environment. It's imperative for the Household Appliances Enterprises (HAE) to look for an effective and successful way to meet the changeable market environment.In 1990, Prahalad and Hamel brought forward the concept of "Core Competence". Consequently, it has become the heated topic among the field of academy and entrepreneur. This theory is of urgent and practical significance for Chinese enterprises to improve competence and face international challenge after China's entry to WTO.This thesis, based on the theoretical background of "Core Competence", analyses and discusses such questions as the definition, the components, forming theory and ideas of cultivation of the "Core Competence" of the HAE, wishing that it can help the HAE adapt to the changed competitive market environment, cultivate the "Core Competence" of HAE, so as to gain sustainable competitive advantage.Six chapters are included in the thesis, started with the preface, which raises some questions from analyzing the alteration of domestic HAE management surroundings and stark challenge, as well as the realistic meaning of cultivating "Core Competence" and the key researching theme is pointed out. The second chapter introduces the strategic theory of "Core Competence" fromdifferent viewpoints, i.e. the theoretical background of competitive force is analyzed; Chapter 3, the status of China's HAE is analyzed and its strategic position is definated; Chapter 4, defined the critical and fundamental components and the forming mechanism is outlined; Chapter 5 proposes some personal opinions from 6 aspects about the "Core Competence" cultivation of HAE; Chapter 6, take Haier group corp. as a case, by analyzing the formation of its "Core Competence" and giving some suggestions for its development in the near future, hoping to provide some enlightenment for enterprises's sustainable and virtuous development.
