| Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine((TCM) is a course that combines advantages and characteristics of TCM with modern technologies to meet the needs of development of the society. Since 1997, TCM industry has been developed widely and deeply. Though its development has already stepped into a new flourishing phase, it is still facing new chances and challenges domestically and internationally. It's a important task by this age to catch the chance, to face challenges positively and take more active actions to realize preponderance and potential of TCM and make epoch-making achievements for human health and our pharmaceutical industry development.The main issues that Modernization of TCM is facing could be summed up into three points — product, enterprise and market. Elements that limit development of TCM are as follows: efficacy evaluation system, security evaluation system, production quality control of TCM, Protection of TCM Intellectual Property Rights, preparation technics of TCM, technical level of TCM industry, sustainable utilization of TCM resource, TCM industry (product) innovation system and industry standard system.Based on investigation of the present situation, main issues and some elements limiting Modernization of TCM, 8 points in this paper have been suggested to increase steps of Modernization of TCM, such as playing full role of science and technology, strengthening the construction of innovation system, encouraging development of TCM coordinatively, promoting technical innovation of pharmacuetical industry and etc., It is hoped thatsuch ideas could be adopted by our government so that to put TCM industry forward to a new Sustainable Developing stage and improve TCM research works scientifically and satisfy the needs to keep peoples' health, national economic and social development, smoothly. |
