Moulds/dies are significant technical equipments for modern manufacturing industry. Its level indicates the manufacturing level and the throughput of a country or an enterprise. Due to the rapid development of modern industry and the shortened lifecycle of products, the demands for moulds/dies expands increasingly and mould/die manufacturers confront more and more opportunities. It is the principal issue facing mould/die manufacturers whether they could gain the assignment of mould/die making with a sound quotation .The rationality of mould/die quotation is not only concerned with the consumers'benefits , but also with the manufacturers' payoff, marketing strategies and the realization of scheduled aims, etc. Therefore, Mould quotation is one of the most important matters in the supervisors'decision-making. A case-based method of mould/die quotation is put forward after the analysis and comparison of several frequently-used methods of mould/die quotation. Instructed by this method, the price composition of mould/die is studied in depth. The description of cases is also researched in this dissertation by taking Injection Mould as an example. A dualistic case model with the attributes of structural characters and price compositions and the way of organizing the cases have been given .A way of automatic calculation of mould/die price is implemented by introducing the theories of Fuzzy Query and Linear Regression. Based on the above-mentioned research ,a quotation system for Injection Mould has been developed on J2EE by adopting MVC as the framework. It provides four methods to realize Mould/die quotation and a flexible customization of the quotation form for different mould/die manufacturers is permitted. The theory and implementation method of the system discussed in this thesis could also be used for reference in the quotation of other types of mould/die.
