Study Of The Export Competitiveness Of China's Mechanical And Electrical Products

Since 1995, Mechanical and Electrical Products have ranked the first place in all export products.which has great impact not only on our foreign trade,but also on our national economy and banlance of payments.With the rapid development of our Mechanical and Electrical Products export,more and more international protect measures such as technology barrier,anti -dumping ,special protective measures appear and result in some trade frictions.How to escape these kinds of trouble has great significance to export development of Mechanical and Electrical Products and prosperous development of the whole industry, as well as the steady development of our country's comprehensive economy. Then all of the considerations focus on the competitive ability of Mechanical and Electrical Products . According to the study conducted by means of a series of trade index before 2000, our Mechanical and Electrical Products' export competitive ability is still weak on the whole .This paper,conducted five years later,studies the Mechanical and Electrical Products' export competitive ability mainly from three aspects,including the export status quo,the index of export competenceand the influencing factors.the recent years' export datas of sevenpowerful nations in Mechanical and Electrical Products were selected ascomparison basis, by means of revealed comparative advantage,tradecompetitive coefficient and international market share,this study showsthat our products' competitiveness is changing with positive trend. In thespecific, before 1998, this kind of product's export competitive ability isweak , while it is becoming stronger and stronger since 2001.because ofthe diversity of Mechanical and Electrical Products, this study divides theexported Mechanical and Electrical Products into some big partsaccording to SITC (rev.3) (standard international trade classification^digital,and finds that only small parts have stonger exportcompetitiveness, also reveals that it is these small parts that enhance ourproducts' competitiveness on the whole. Then the influencing factors arestudied in these small parts of products,macro factor analysis reveals thattechnical activity investment, fixed assets investment and foreigninvestment have great impact on Mechanical and Electrical Products'export competitive capability,especially technical activity investment'simpact is very notable;micro factor level analysis reveals that products'price,quality,technology content,staff quality and international certificateshave distinct relationship with products' competitive ability, whilebrand ,trade barrier and export drawback has no distinct relationship withexport competitive ability.In the end, we bring forth some measures that favors further improvement of china's Mechanical and Electrical Products' export competitive capability from macro and micro levels.
