Along with the coming of the knowledge economic age, the competition between enterprises, actually the competition between people especially the knowledge workers is more and more serious. So, effectively appraising the performance of the knowledge workers so as to stimulate their enthusiasm and creativity is the key to improving the performance of the workers and the organization, and also the key to the long-term and stable development of the enterprise.Considering the knowledge workers and their working style, this thesis is a study on the performance of the knowledge workers in the new era, which is based on the Human Capital Theory, Enterprise Knowledge Theory and Enterprise Value Creation Theory. The author believes that the personal performance and the organizational performance are mutually affected. So appraising the performance of a knowledge worker must be connected with the holistic development of the organization.Based on the Human Capital Theory, Enterprise Knowledge Theory and Enterprise Value Creation Theory, firstly, this article analyzed the knowledge workers and the characteristics of their work, deduced the necessity to study the performance of the knowledge workers from the view of the organization, and pointed out that the performance was mainly reflected from three aspects, the achievements, the capability and the attitude. Secondly, from the view of theorganization, the thesis fixed the principles and measure methods, and constructed a comprehensive and effective appraisal system. Thirdly, the thesis expatiated on the enforcement of the appraisal system. Finally, the A enterprise was taken as an example. Through the analysis of the performance appraisal system of A, the author drew some improvement suggestions to make it more rational and effective.Utilizing the comparison method and the logical deduction inference method of the management science, also through the actual case research, the thesis has introduced a detailed way to carry on the performance appraisal of knowledge workers, and has thoroughly discussed performance management of the knowledge workers.
