The Research On Telecommunication Operators' Technological Innovation Based On Knowledge Network

With the continuous update and development of the telecommunication industry, telecommunication operators which locate in technology-intensive industry are confronting challenges from the newness and flux of technology. In order to keep competitive advantage, telecommunication operators need to carry out technological innovation continuously to satisfy the needs of customers. As complicated innovation, telecommunication operators' technological innovation needs the support of equipment, network, technology, content and service. However, due to the attributes of high tech and high cost of telecommunication industry, it is difficult for telecommunication operators to control all of these. Knowledge network provides the advantages for telecommunication operators' technological innovation. Since now, there has not been exhaustive research on telecommunication operators' technological innovation in existed theory. In view of this, this paper aims to do some research on telecommunication operators' technological innovation based on knowledge network.To begin with, this paper refines the conception of telecommunication operators' technological innovation. Then it investigates in telecommunication operators' knowledge network, which includes the definition of its connotation, establishment of the network and the research on its essentials, structure and features. Based on these, it analyses the knowledge flows in telecommunication operators' knowledge network and its promotion mechanism to the technological innovation. Afterward, this paper does the research on telecommunication operators' technological innovation. In this part, it analyses the features of technological innovation process. This is followed by the exhaustive discussion of telecommunication operators' technological innovation process. According to the discussion, it is the recycling process of "product conceptual design — domain-specific knowledge acquisition — knowledge integration and innovation—product extension and system upgrade". Furthermore, it establishes the technological innovation process model and identifies the impact factors of the process. It also puts forward the evolving path of the technological innovation, which evolves from "innovation pushed by software/hardware providers" to "innovation after the integration of primary knowledge and domain-specific knowledge obtained according to the customers' needs". Finally, through the investigation, this paper analyses the technologicalinnovation process of "Monternet" in China Mobile Communications Corporation exhaustively.
