With its unique capital superiority, China's capital metropolitan area has abundantfoundation in terms of economy, transportation, resources, industry, and etc. However, it alsofaces many problems, i.e. the centralism of two poles of Beijing and Tianjin, the slowness ofintegrate advancement of regional economy, the dual economic structure, and so on. Bymeans of learning from Japanese experience in the development pattern of capitalmetropolitan area, combining the characteristic and superiority of China's capitalmetropolitan area, and adopting the method of comparison research, the article proposes thespeculation of economic development model for China's capital metropolitan area, clarifies itsdevelopment mentality and orientation, constructs its reasonable spatial structure andindustrial function division so as to fully display its diffusion effect as China's Northernincreasing pole, thus carrying out great jump development.The article, based on the growth pole theory, regional economy and industrial theory,analyzes the economic development model of Japanese capital metropolitan area andsummarizes its successful experience. Based on the elaboration on the developmentorientation, present situation and problems of capital metropolitan area in China and Japan,the article mainly compares the spatial structure and industrial function between the twocapital metropolitan areas and elaborates their similarities and differences. Based on theabsorption of economic development model of Japan's capital metropolitan area, the articleexpatiates on the reconstruction of spatial structure and function division as well as theconcrete measures for China's capital metropolitan area. Finally it analyzes the realization ofspatial development model and industrial function division for China's capital metropolitanarea, that is, the optimization of regional government structure and the reconstruction oftransportation system.
