Along with the quick development of urban economy, population and city dimensions,people always pay full attention to the economic value of environmental sources with out it'secological value of components in the people's life. It works up, so that, the result that thebetter of the urban economy and the worse of it's environment. To make the harmoniousdevelopment of city and environment, we must take care of the contradiction that we talkedabout. With the support of GIS and GPS technology, we can quickly get and analysis thegeneral, systemic, truly information of the change on earth surface with RS data, which is theimportant technology and developmental aspect of environment and sources monitoring. Thatworks for the environment and sources' monitoring, management and development, andprovide the integrated decision-making gist.Study area lies in Beijing city which developing quickly now. On the basis of collectingand summarizing literatures, the RS Data we used is Landset TM data acquired at1994.7.1,2004.7.6. Firstly, take the information extraction of land use types of the city, andthen, monitoring and analysis the urban expand and environment change.On the basis of geometry registration, enhancement and subset for TM images, the paperstudies the information extraction mechanism and approach on mostly object of the city. Withthe detailed analysis and clarity of several existing normalized difference indices, the studyselects three indices, Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI), Modified NormalizedDifference Water Index (NMDWI) and Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI) to indicate thebuilding, water and vegetation of the city. At the same time, take the advantage ofmulti-filtering on linear object extraction, this paper raised a new approach on roadinformation extraction from remotely sensed data of huge region.Analysis and identify the index after extract the information of mostly object of the city.First, analysis the land use changes of building, water and vegetation, distributing changes ofrefuse dump, road. Study on dynamic change of the edge of Beijing city, combine it's socialeconomic index, seek the driving force of urban expend. Analysis the changes of environmentand seek the driving force of it. At last, find the rules of urban expend and environmentchange in Beijing city.
