Using 2001 and 2005 data of the ETM+ and ArcGIS spatial analysis methods in geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing (Rs) technology support, we studied Beijing land use situation and analyzed the mutual transfer of land-use types. The results showed that farmland have a substantial reduction, woodland reduce speed slow, urban construction sites and rural construction sites increased substantially in Beijing. The fastest increase is rural construction sites. Following is a specific Beijing regional land-use changes1)The core functions of the capital area characterized by changes in the woodland transfer from urban construction sites;2)Expanding urban functional areas is characterized by changes in land use and urban construction sites of the substantial increase in rural construction sites. Especially in rural construction sites fastest increase, while decreasing farmland and woodlands;3)The development of new districts in urban land-use form has undergone tremendous changes,. The most important thing is the large number of farmland to rural construction land transfer. This area is the largest regional increase in rural construction sites in Beijing;4) Ecological conservation development areas primarily farmland transfor into urban construction sites.we can see that the dominant factor is the economic factors and demographic factors and the government policy is a major driving factor acts by the analysis of Beijing land-use change driven. Using the socio-economic statistics and multiple methods of statistical analysis, we analysed the main driving force for change and land-driven mechanism of farmland.
