Study Of The Application Of Social Network Analysis In The Scientific Collaboration Network

With the coming of Knowledge Economy and speedy development of Information Technology, scientific research more and more greatly calls for the collaboration of people engaged in it. An intangible relationship network named scientific collaboration network is formed between people engaged in scientific research because of their communications and collaborations in scientific researches, academic researches and papers. It is beneficial for managers of a scientific research to know the structure and features of a scientific collaboration network, which can make them master directions of scientific research in the organization timely and accelerate communications of scientific research information between people involved. Additionally, it can enhance communications and collaborations between people engaged in the scientific research and promote scientific team to form and develop. All of the above benefits make management of the scientific research organization more effectively. Finally, the innovation power of the scientific research team will be advanced.In basically, scientific team is a type of social network, so we use social network analysis- an approach to research structures of organizations prevails now to analysis of scientific collaboration network. The first part of this paper mainly introduces the formation and development of theories on social network analysis. Main theories and research methods of the social network and the shortcoming of social network analysis in the application of scientific collaboration network analysis are also recommended in this part. The second part of this paper mainly introduces a method of scientific collaboration network analysis aim at those shortcomings. In the scientific collaboration network analysis method, individual and integrity attribute are combined to research. A synthetically method of network graph is presented. And a research theory about scientific collaboration network is proposed that the research can combine core network study and periphery network study together.The method of scientific collaboration network analysis presented in the paper is validated through a case study on the scientific collaboration network of Institution of S in D University. In the process of this study, features of a scientific collaboration network with high innovation power are approved. A primary study on the dynamic feature of scientific collaboration network has been done and consequently some conclusion is made. Through the study, features of a scientific collaboration network with high innovation power in scientificresearch are found and measures to promote this kind of innovation power and to form of scientific team from perfecting structure of scientific collaboration network are revealed.
