The textile quota has been canceled since January 1st. 2005. Obviously, it makes the trade of textile to be much free, and creates more export opportunities for the textile exporting countries. Facing the change of international textile market, China's textile industry, which has the competitive advantage of the low-cost labor force, can seize more markets. But, considering the domestic situation of economy and politics, the textile importing countries will adopt other trade measures to control the quantity of import. So, China's textile industry faces new challenge. This thesis is consisted of four parts. The first part of the thesis explains the background of the textile quota by introducing the MFA and ATC, and gives some advice about how to face the challenge in post-quota era on the basis of analysis on Sino-American textile trade. Then, the thesis analyses the trade trend and new situation in American textile market in post-quota era by means of the international economics theory. Also, it makes the empirical study on the Chinese textile situation in American textile market after canceling the quota, using the data of Sino-American textile trade from January to March in 2005. It makes a conclusion that the opportunities and challenges co-exist and the foreground of the textile export is not so optimistic. The end of the thesis separately analyses special safeguard terms, the technology standards, anti-dumping etc, manages to provide some suggestion on how to expand the export and enter into the international market in after-quota era.
