With the rapid development of economy and improvement in medical care in 1990s, China's population, especially that in such developed regions like Yangze River delta, shows trend of aging. For a long time, social support the elders get is mainly from family and children. However, with the transformation of family structure and development in market economy, which is a warning to the social support of the elders. Meanwhile, the nursery facilities are underused in China. The thesis attempts to establish a theoretical model to explain the elders' choice for care, on the basis of which, social service system is constructed. The study firstly describes the trend and features of the aging population in Zhejang Province; then three ways of care are analyzed, i.e. informal care system, formal care system and in-home care, which has their own advantages and disadvantages. The study makes an empirical analysis of the observation data randomly collected from the information of elders' in Zhejiang province on the basis of elders' preference for and demands of social support individually. The study adopts multi-variable logistic regression model. The result shows that family condition has a significant effect on the elders' choice for care. Finally the study predicts elders' choice in the feature for care based on the model. The writer also makes a fundamental analysis of the elders' demand for spiritual needs. Finally, the writer constructs social service system according to the elders' demands for daily care and the spiritual care. The system takes the home care as lead, integrating three ways of care with other community resources to realize individualistic and family service, which must be established to meet the individualistic demand of the elders'.
