This kind of condition could not adapt to the free tradezones' demands on seeking general development trend, making reasonable planningand organizing available resources. Setting up a series of statistic estimate indexes hasbecome the important topic for discussion. On the basis of theoretically analysing the regional economic statistic indexes,this essay is trying to create a general, scientific, feasible and practical statisticestimate indexes for free trade zones in China, in order to give valuable references tothe general economic estimates and researches on Chinese free trade zones. Firstly, The essay analysed the 2003-year economic developments of the freetrade zones, introduced the aim and signification for setting up a general statisticindexes, and gave some advices on the realities and shortcomings of China's freetrade zone statistics. Secondly, the Essay combines the regional economic estimate indexes theoriesand the economic characteristics of the free trade zones together, made a scientificforecast on the development of the free trade zones' advantage industries andeconomic structures, by researching the free trade zones' economic modes;and then,raises the designing theory and gist on setting up free trade zones' statistic estimateindexes.According to the feasibility studies and reasonable analyses on the economicdevelopment realities, trend and statistic data of the free trade zones, the essaybelieves that the indexes should include 7 elements: economic strength, runningquality, opening up degree, sustainable development capacity and functiondevelopment.
