Along with the booming Chinese economy, connections between China and the world becomes ever tight in the fields such as economy and international trade. The impact of China to the world becomes more and more significant at the same time. Attentions have been paid to China and its development among both domestic and foreign academes. As a new topic, 'China factor' was firstly raised among the economy research field a few years ago. Due to the close relations between world trade and the shipping industry, impacts of 'China factor' on the shipping market have become one of the hot topics among the world shipping industry.This paper firstly makes a brief introduction to the dry bulk shipping market, and then analyzes its current status and development trend. Following that, international trade and shipping development and China's role is analyzed using the Trade Development Cycles theory. Based on above'analysis, and historical trade data, grey relational analysis model is adopted to the major bulks, i.e. iron ore and coal, mainly to show the growing impact of China on the dry bulk shipping market and its trend.Study on the impact of China factor on the dry bulk market could give people more clear understanding of China's importance in this market. The result of this study could be helpful for people to have better judgements on the market development trend;hence the paper could be of consultancy value for the personnel in the dry bulk shipping business.
