The study starts with the introduction of the development ofKorea's and China's apparel industry. The paper summarizes thecharacteristics of China's apparel industry at present. As Chinaencountered trade issues from U.S. and EU on all import quotas ontextiles and apparel to cease to exist on Jan 1st 2005, the paperreviewed the impact occurred on China's apparel industry and howChina reacted to this. Based on the introduction and analysis above,the study focuses on the impacts and implications that thedevelopment of China's apparel industry made on Korea's apparelindustry, including employment, industrial structure, foreigninvestment and industrial policy. Considering the statues quo ofglobal apparel industry, the paper discusses the prospective ofcooperation between Korea and China in this field. It is suggestedthat the two countries should encourage the investment by Koreacompanies in China, help each other in exploiting more market share,and cooperate in fostering Asian fashion.
