With the rapid development of the industry, our demand for the mineralresources will reach the peak within 20-30 years. Although we have a vast land andstill a lot of mineral resources remain to be developed, few breakthrough in thegeological survey has been made recent years. Furthermore, the reserves consumptionis faster than the reserves increase and fewer and fewer mineral resources arediscovered. Based on such a situation, how to intensify the development of geologicalsurvey of the mineral resources becomes more and more urgent.In order to realize the sustaining and healthy development of the geologicalsurvey in China, ensure the supply of the mineral resources keep in parallel with theeconomic construction and social development, the state has clearly divide thegeological work into two kinds: public and commercial. The two kinds of geologicalwork are run and managed separately. Therefore, the geological survey in Chinaentered the operation stage of marketlization.Under such condition, the geological survey of the mineral resources shall beintensified according to the division of geological work (public and commercial),adopting different operation system. The expenses for public geological work aremainly borne by the central finance. But for the commercial geological work, it willbe more difficult to intensify because all local enterprises which undertake geologicalsurvey are independent in management and have to assume sole responsibilities fortheir profits or losses.The paper delves in how to increase the capital input into the commercialgeological survey. It also indicates that it is one of the efficient ways to solve theabove problem by forming and improving the risk investment system of thegeological survey.The paper begins with analyzing the current investment situation of thegeological survey of the mineral resources. Then it expounds the feasibility offorming the risk investment system in combination of the relative theory of riskinvestment. Also, the paper expounds how to form the risk investment system in termsof structure, function and environment and outlines the frame of the risk investmentsystem. Finally, a series of measures and suggestions are put forward in this paper forforming the risk investment system, including building the property right market ofthe mineral resources, broadening the exit channels, market reform of the enterpriseswhich undertakes the geological survey, etc.
