Oil is not only the blood in modern society but also the necessary strategic resource for every country's development in the world. At present, many countries, including China, are facing the problem of oil security because oil is put at the core position among energy sources strategy.China has been an oil net importer since 1993, which has a rapid increasing demand for oil. Especially, the oil production areas where China can import are mainly being sited in trouble spots, the Middle East, and its transport channels are largely dependent on Malacca Strait which is twisted with intricate political and economic relations. All of the above lead to the great hidden trouble for Chinese oil security. It's doubtlessly a significant step for easing up Chinese oil security predicament to development oil cooperation with Russia. And in doing so, it has great advantages as well. For instance, Russia, as the largest oil exporter that is independent of OPEC, is rich in oil resource. China and Russia are contiguous in geography and they have harmonious political relations and a rapid increase in economy and trade cooperation. The two countries have developed oil cooperation since 1992. However, things aren't all that good. There exist many domestic and overseas factors which restrict the two countries' oil cooperation. It's the conjunct influence of those factors that decides the process of the two countries' oil cooperation.Sino-Russia oil cooperation is of real significance to both countries. It can not only conduce to their economic development and mutual prosperity, but also help to enrich and develop their strategic partnership.
