The Design And Construction Of Knowledge Map In Knowledge Management Of Scientific Research Institute

This is a special dissertation based on the national program Agricultural Information Management System Construction and Share ness, which is funded by Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China.As one of the hot topics in the current spectrum of information management, the visual representation and information resources navigation of knowledge relationship is also one of the main problems in the field. This paper focuses on such problems as disclosing the relationships between knowledge, systemizing knowledge and representing knowledge structurally, which can help smooth circulation of knowledge in order to realize its value. And, the construction of knowledge map system is a basic tool to solve these problems.By the methods of system analysis, this paper designs a knowledge map system of scientific research institutions, which offers the rapid access to knowledge and efficient retrieval of knowledge to meet the demands of various users, especially the researchers and managers in these institutions. What is more, this paper as well studies the knowledge labeling and relating, and explicit knowledge expressing to realize the communication and implement of the knowledge in scientific research institutions.This paper is based on such fundamental theories as knowledge management theory and information management theory, and it also utilizes the current information technologies and the system developing and visualizing tools based on Web techniques, which is building on the basic characteristics of the demands of scientific research institutions. Meanwhile, this paper has made some innovative researches as follows:It has developed a modeled frame stricture based on the knowledge map sets, which offers to visually express links between knowledge maps. And by these links, it helps enhance these knowledge maps' value.It has developed a prototype of the knowledge maps in scientific research institutions. There are five functional modules in this prototype, including expert navigation functional module, program navigation functional module, knowledge map navigation functional module, knowledge map sets functional module and knowledge map sets management functional module. These functional modules efficiently realize the navigation of expert knowledge, program knowledge and subject knowledge. And they disclose links between different knowledge through the visual method as well. As a substantiated application, this paper provides techniques and theories to the Agricultural Information Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to help set up its own knowledge management system.This paper has offered a referred prototype to other kinds of knowledge maps, which improves to share knowledge in a institution.
