Mainly based on the fieldwork first-hand data and summary of Guo Dingxiang, the thesis analyses Guo Dingxiang academically from the viewpoint of folklore, folk literature, folk belief, and feminism, such as its folklore function, cultural meaning, folklore value and meaning, and its representative meaning in rescuing and protecting of nonmaterial cultural heritage. The thesis probes into Guo Dingxiang comprehensively and puts forward the author's view, supplementing former study.The thesis has four main parts: exordium, text, epilogue and supplement.Exordium summarizes the data on Guo Dingxiang.The text is divided into the following parts:Part One. The concepts and naming about Book of Kitchen King and Opera of Kitchen King. To sing Book of Kitchen King or Opera of Kitchen King is to sing Guo Dingxiang (another name is Abandoning Dingxiang), calling it"to sing Kitchen King"in common saying. Its naming is according to Guo Dingxiang's content which is the marriage stories about Kitchen King and Kitchen Queen.Part Two. The social and cultural background of Guo Dingxiang's coming into being. Operas had existed at the same time, the cultural environment and folklore life is full-bodied, people believe in Kitchen King piously in Gushi County, what's more, the story about Kitchen Queen Guo Dingxiang and Kitchen King Zhang Wanliang spreads widely.Part Three. The basic evolution and development track of Guo Dingxiang. From folk Kitchen King-derivation–type abandoning wife story to Book of Kitchen King, then Opera of Kitchen King, and then published Guo Dingxiang, Guo Dingxiang was accumulated gradually, in the accumulating course, folk actors(i.e.carpenters) integrated Duan Gong Opera and folk stories, added many short stories to Guo...
