Research On The Problem Of Industry Hollow About Immigration City In The Three Gorges Reservoir Area

This thesis carries on a tentative empirical study and takes the research object by Wanzhou which is the biggest migration city in the Three Gorges. It is guided by the principle of combining theory with practice that to do field research in Wanzhou in research process. It has paid a visit to department concerned to collect statistics by using the way of interview and consulting, and penetrated into immigrant sub - district to acquire raw data. Then, research by qualitative and quantitative analysis method and combine the theory with actual situation of Wanzhou.As the immigration city in reservoir area, the industry hollow phenomenon appears in Wanzhou in the urban development process. In allusion to this phenomenon, this thesis uses the economic cost theory of urbanization investment to analyses the origin and the mechanism of industry hollow in the urbanization investment process based on the perspective of economics.The main conclusions of study go as follows:First, during the urbanization, the economic cost which must invest for enhancing urbanization level mainly includes the cost of urban establishment investment and employment post investment. Urban establishment investment cost includes four parts which are the cost of land for urbanization investment, urban infrastructure investment, residential housing investment and public building facilityinvestment. All of them with specific function are necessary for urban development. The economic cost can play its role fully not only needs to satisfy the urban development in the total quantity, moreover the investment structure also must be reasonable. If the urban establishment investment too few cannot provide the essential and good foundation condition for the urban development. And employment investment too few then cannot provide the enough employment post for urban industrial development and cause the industrial development lag. This is easy to create the industry hollow.Second, as to Wanzhou this immigration city, it should increase the employment post investment and make sure that the urban employment investment occupies the certain proportion to solve the massive population's employment. But at present, the economic cost total quantity of Wanzhou is lower. It just only occupies 62.6% of the Chongqing investment level in 2000. More over, this cost is lower than other immigration cities and the non- immigration city obviously which with the properly city scale. In addition, economic cost structure of urbanization also is incompatible. On the one hand, employment post investment insufficiency, on the other hand the infrastructure investment cost and residential housing investment are higher. This is the important reason of industry hollow in Wanzhou.Third, Speaking of the immigration cities in reservoir area, comparing with the other non- immigration cities with same level of development, because of their immigration particularity, they should enhance the investment of employment post and increases the employment investment, provide more employment post for the urban development.The main discussions go as follows:First, it needs a reasonable investment structure of economic cost to promote urban development in urbanization. But different city has different development course, different industrial structure and different economic type. It cannot make a kind of sole investment structure simply to limit all cities. Therefore, it must aim at the city which studies to analyze to determine whether a city's economic cost structure is reasonable.Second, Wanzhou's industry hollow is influenced by many kinds of factors, including history reason, policy reason, and immigration reason and so on. But the reason mainly analyzed thoroughly from economic cost structure in this thesis is only one of them. The industry hollow reason also needs to do various researches.
