Meteorological GIS is an important project supporting meteorological disasterwarning project of China Meteorological Administration.The integration of GIS platformtechnology and meteorological industry application model provide a professional ofmeteorological GIS platform for meteorological observation, weather forecasting andwarning, public meteorological services, support to meteorological science andtechnology. It puts forward higher requirements in meteorological GIS business platformfor the seamless integration of meteorological data and the efficiency of data reading andwriting, which needs to set a meteorological temporal data model and engine to supportvarious format of meteorological data reading and writing directly and meteorologicaltemporal data displaying dynamically. GDB-CLI is a standard interface of domestic GISdata platform manufacturers to develop in current. Its purpose and the developments ofspatial data engine, temporal data model technology brings an opportunity for datareading and writing directly and dynamic analysis servicing. In view of the shortcomingsof the current meteorological service system failed to read and write temporal datadirectly and dynamic display, the study of spatial data engine, GDB-CLI interfaces, andtemporal data model as other related technologies research presents some new ideasabout meteorology temporal data model for professional characteristics based onGDB-CLI standard interface engine and meteorological GIS data.This paper firstly summarizes the present situation of the application of GIStechnology and the challenge that the temporal data model and spatial data engine statusfaced in the field of meteorology. Against the current meteorological operations to therequirement of meteorological data reading and writing, the article also puts forward thekey technology and research route and method to display and analysis the meteorologicaldata.Secondly, the research prefers the standard GIS data engine based on GDB-CLIinterface design as well as the typical implementation of three kinds of meteorologicaldata engine named Micaps, AWX and BUFR due to the development of spatial dataengine technology and the advantage of GDB-CLI technology. Through the analysis ofgeneral spatial-temporal data model and the characteristics of meteorological temporaldata, the research refers from the snapshot-sequence model and space-time compositemodel, designing a meteorological temporal data according to the characteristics of professional meteorological data. It mainly includes temporal data model for stationobservation data, for radar satellite data and for typhoon data.Finally, this paper sets it an example that is meteorological forecast warningintegrated service platform in Xia’men, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou so as themeteorological GIS data engine and meteorological temporal data model are applied tothe platform, functioning all kinds of meteorological data of direct speaking, reading andwriting. Under the management of mass temporal meteorological data, this can solvesome problems that the meteorological department at present is given priority to the filedata and the meteorological data are difficult to schedule, thus to the express weatherphenomenon well and analysis the meteorological services effectively.The research in this paper is of immediate significance for solving the efficiencyand convenience of meteorological data in GIS application. At the same time, it hastheoretical value on the establishment of the open-space data engine accessing model, themeteorological data engine extension development based on GDB-CLI interface, themeteorological industry application of temporal data model in terms of the research anddevelopment of meteorological data model and engine. Furthermore, this paper givessome references to studying data engine and temporal data model of other industries.
