Recently, it’s an opportunity for Air Transportation that it has been rapidly developed with the increasing public demands and the global economic.However, it is a challenge due to a certain number of unsafe events which has been caused more attentions by public. The question is how the search and rescue (SAR) units or departments react, how to locate the aircraft, how to measure the SAR search regions, and search by what kind of pattern once an aircraft is in an emergency?The Search Assistant Decision-making System Based on GIS was designed and implemented by discussing the civil aviation search mechanism, search areas, search methods, and components of search support system.The search mechanism is no doubt to be the essential part among the whole search task. This paper had been analyzed the differences between foreign and domestic, the deficiency in present stage of China, and proposed function requirements of the search assistant decision-making system.Search areas determination is the foundation for implementation of search. This paper discusses the aircraft flight state equation under different coordinate systems; Data recreation of aerodynamic curve images by using of image processing technology to obtained coefficient of Lift-to-Drag ratio:And establishes a no power, no control mathematic model of the gliding aircraft. Therefore,the descending distances with constant wind were figured out, and the search areas were calculated. The search task would be carried on with different search patterns. The rationality of search area positioning method was verified with the missing aircraft AF447.The Search Assistant Decision-making System Based on GIS, which was used MFC programming technology with Google Earth and developed with VS2008 integrated development environment. The system consists of search mechanism module, flight data module, the crash area positioning module, and search implementation module. That has realized the functions of information sharing, positioning, search processing demonstration, etc. All of the functions were applied to search for aircraft; it was helpful for to improve search collaborative abilities.
