Application Research Of Three-dimensional Digital Campus Based On SketchUp And ArcGIS

Currently, three-dimensional geographic information system(3D GIS) has become one of the research hot spots in GIS field, compared with the 2D GIS. it has more broad application prospects. 3D GIS has been widely applied in all walks of life and playing an increasingly important role in the society. What’s more, 3D GIS takes new ideas and technologies into the campus information construction. In a word, the 3D campus is the product of integrating traditional campus management Information System with the 3D GIS technology.This paper based on the Fu Zhou campus of East China Institute of Technology as the research object. The related 3D modeling theory and technology is introduced into the digital campus system, combining with the current mainstream software and technology. It mainly analyzed from the aspects of system requirements and design ideas, system development platform, the process and key technology of 3D campus model building, system function design ect. The campus prototype system of 3D campus was established in the platform of Arc Scene, and C # of Visual Studio 2010 was applied to secondary development for campus’ scene. Finally, the 3D GIS campus was successful constructed and developed. In addition to the general functions of the 2D map, the system also achieved the functions of distance measurement, attribute query, visibility analysis, slope and aspect analysis, through the system, the users can have a clear and intuitive 3D experience of the campus.The study can be used for reference to research and construction of 3D campus. The 3D campus provides a natural realistic 3D virtual environment, which can provide not only effective decision support for campus management and planning, but also convenient communication for visitors outside school, students and teachers. The 3D campus is the important window of school cultural propaganda and image display under the network environment.
