Epoxy resin composite material filled hollow glass microsphere and glass fiber is anew type of lightweight porous materials, to study the affection of volume fraction andwall thickness ratio of hollow glass microspheres, volume fraction of glass fiber on theperformance of composite material mechanics and master its stress field distribution afterloading is an important basic research work. In this paper, through the establishment ofrepresentative element numerical model of composite materials, the mechanicsperformance of epoxy resin composite material filled hollow glass microsphere and glassfiber was analyzed. The stress field distribution was understood from the micro level.According to the result of experiment, the mechanics performance study of this materialwas conducted comprehensively.Two arrangement forms of glass fiber of composite material simulation model wasestablished, the Von Mises stress distribution, the elastic modulus and poisson ratio ofcomposite materials on behalf of the unit cell were studied on condition of differentvolume fraction and wall thickness ratio of hollow glass microsphere and different glassfiber volume fraction, the stress mechanism of composite material was analyzed frommicro level. Based on hybrid rule, the elastic modulus’ general prediction expression ofcomposite material filled hollow glass microsphere and glass fiber was fitting concluded,and two arrangement forms of the simulation results are compared to the theoreticalpredictions. Then, to further study the influence of volume fraction and wall thicknessratio of hollow glass microsphere and glass fiber’s volume fraction on compositematerial’s elastic and plastic performance, the stress-strain curve of composite materialwas concluded, and its deformation law after loading was analyzed.Finally, a few of fiber-reinforced syntactic foams with a kind of hollow glassmicrosphere mass ratio and four kind of glass fiber mass ratio are prepared. Through aseries of compression, tensile and bending experiments, the mechanical propertiesincluding elastic modulus, yield limit and so on were studied. The main factors andreasons affecting this kind of composite material mechanics performance were analyzed.
