Hot strip mill production is one of the highest areas of science and technologycontent in the steel rolling industry. It is vital to promote the development and expansionof power towards the steel from iron and steel production technology plays a big role inthe country. This paper has made a studied on several key components problems of thehydraulic coiler Tangshan Guofeng Iron&Steel Co., Ltd. hot-rolled sheet plant.Contrary to the problem of low life of side guides resistant liner and high costs ofmaintenance, it analysed the device structure according to the mechanical drawings andthe reason of abrasion. Analyzed the abrasion process by use of the abrasion modle, andthe current measure on how to deal with the abrasion. And according to the problem, annew side guides with edgers was designed which changed the form of friction with theidea of using the original components. After the new equipment, the effect was obvious.Analysed the structure of drive mechanism due to the non-normal damage of themain drive bearing, cover bolts, rotary joint bearing and so on. The main problems hasbeen found by analyzing the structure of the entire drive form and the roller action process,power transmission characteristics, such as large organization size, more transmissionconstitutes, imbalance axial force, and so on. Using the motheod of finite element analysis,propose that changed the mechanical rotary joint into non-contact hydraulic rotary joint.The non-contact hydraulic rotary joint was connected with the flange of main drivegear-box directly. Also backpressure loop will be add to the hydraulic system.At last, the paper focus on the installation accuracy of the side guides and the rollerdrive mechanism which were reformed. Found out the reason which affected theinstallation accuracy, and pointed out the critical control point on installation accuracywhich ensured to achieve the desired objectives.Results of this study has some reference value to improve the device performance.
