Radiation protection organic glass is becoming popular in the field of radiation protectionmaterials, which not onlyhas good transparent performance and high radiation protection property, butalso has the characteristics of good formability, low density, excellent mechanical properties, low costandwide application range.In this paper, lead methacrylate(Pb(MAA)2)/polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA) anti-radiationorganic glass, samarium methacrylate(Sm(MAA)3)/PMMA anti-radiation organic glass, Sm(MAA)3/Pb(MAA)2/PMMA anti-radiation organic glass were prepared through bulk polymerization method.The samples prepared under different metal concentration were studied. The microstructure of thecomposite material was studied by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), scanning electronmicroscope(SEM), and energy dispersive(EDAX). Transmittance of the material was also tested andanalyzed by ultraviolet spectrophotometer. Gamma energy spectrum system and Gamma Visionsoftware were used to calculate its radiation shielding property. EGS4was used to simulates transportprocess of the ray in the composite material and discuss the changing of fluence and dose before andafter the ray through the composite material. The simulated screening factor was compared with theexperimental screening factor.The results indicate that Sm(MAA)3and Pb(MAA)2were copolymerized with methyl methacrylate.The particles of Sm(MAA)3and Pb(MAA)2in the as-prepared material were homogeneous with slightreunion. The transparency of the Pb(MAA)2/PMMA anti-radiation organic glass decreased when thecontent of Pb(MMA)2was above7%,however, the transparency of Sm(MAA)3/PMMAanti-radiationorganic glass and Sm(MAA)3/Pb(MAA)2/PMMA anti-radiation organic glass stillhad goodtransparent performance even when the metal salts concentration was above20%.ThePb(MAA)2/PMMA anti-radiation organic glass owned a great radiation shielding property for highenergy photon, the Sm(MAA)3/PMMA anti-radiation organic glass owned a great radiation shieldingproperty for low energy photon and the Sm(MAA)3/Pb(MAA)2/PMMA anti-radiation organic glassowned a great radiation shielding property for both low energy photon and high energy photon. Thesimulated resultshad an approximate homology with the experimental result.
