With the "Twelve-Five" plan carried on, the security of coal mine has been investedenormous effort by means of popularizing automation and information technologymanagement system in the colliery to ensure china’s coal mine security in recent years.However, such security issues still exit mainly due to technical deficiency of coal mineequipment management system. The deficiency derives from separation between figure andattributions in system design, which makes it impossible to realize manage devices invisualizing way and fails in integrating the two elements to analysis and aid decision.Meanwhile, managerial issues such as visualization system in equipment management andnetwork management remain in some extent and have negative impact on the apparatusmanagement of the colliery.This paper explains the business procedure in the coal mine equipment management,sums up the demand for equipment management of coal mine, and analyzes the potentialapplication of GIS in mine equipment management. According to the equipment needs, thestructure of managerial system is designed by adopting B/S model. Moreover, due modules insuch system and its function are fully taken consideration. With relational database used, thesystem can be used to manage all information,--especially to such non-spatial data as user’sauthority-, to realize the unified management of the relevant data of the apparatus of thecolliery. The paper also probes into the new project which combines WebGIS withinformation management of the apparatus. For this project, such tools as ArcGIS for Server,the space database and Flex technology are used to process common--used graphics in coalmine equipment for unified storage, management and distribution, in order to operate mapbased on the browser, to link between graphics and the daily information in a visual way, andto manage simultaneously both spatial and non-spatial data in the same system.The System designed in this paper has many advantages. It makes administrative staffsroutinely efficient manage information in such work as information registration, buying storage, leasing, and scrapping. It also makes the users effective solve the practical problem inthe production of the colliery by offering many functional services like space query, bufferanalysis, statistical analysis and path analysis by GIS analysis.
