| With the continuous development of modern manufacturing technology, to meetthe increasing demand for spiral bevel gears, the new technique of cutting spiral bevelgears with the end mill made up of multiple blades fixed into a cutter head becomesprevalent gradually. The method of cutting spiral bevel gears without fluid wasoriginally invented by the Gleason Works, the United States. Now, no one masters thetechnology in the field of arc bevel gear machining except for Gleason, Oerlikon,Klingelnberg and a few other companies and they get the monopoly position. However,only a few make efforts in studying this kind of spiral bevel gear cutting tool, especiallyin the software system of its grinding machine, and little can be referred to. In thispaper, research will be done in the grinder’s software system for the end mill’s cutterblade, focusing on Gleason’s spiral bevel gear dry cutting technology.Firstly, research CNC grinding trajectory modeling of the blade. Define theparameters of the Gleason blade’s edge line, and establish the mathematical model ofthe blade’s edge line. Complete the grinding trajectory modeling of first flank andsecond flank of the blade. Then study the processing method of the higher and lowerside of the blade considering the production requirements of the blade. In considerationof the structure of the CNC grinding machine, use Matlab to parametric programmingaccording to the blade’s mathematical model and output the NC program, then verifythe programs and related algorithms.Secondly, design the controller’s interface of the blade’s grinding machine andwrite the MACRO program. The CNC grinder in this paper use the SYNTEC20MAcontroller. The interface of the controller will be developed according to the demand ofblade grinding using eHMI provided by SYNTEC. With the manuals of the controller’sMACRO, write MACRO programs according to the algorithm of the Matlab programsfor blade grinding, and achieve the parameterized NC programming.Finally, research the machining simulation of blade grinding and actual machiningexperiments. Establish the CNC Machine Simulation environment of the blade based onVERICUT, and verify the NC program output by Matlab, then import MACROprogram into the controller if go through the validation. At last, if the results output bythe MACRO in the controller are the same as those of the Matlab program, theprograms written with parameterized NC programming will be verified for theircorrectness. |
