With the global energy shortage, global warming as well as the globally implementof relevant laws and regulations, the manufacturing industry had to reduce energyconsumption.Electricity is the necessary resource of mechanical workshop productionprocess, reducing the consumption is not only to reduce the production cost but also toreduce the CO2emissions. The amount of energy consumption of mechanical workshopis huge, so the energy consumption problem is increasinglyvalued and deemed to be themost urgent problem to achieve the sustainable development of mechanicalmanufacturing.Mechanical workshop is a kind of manufacturing system that regard machine toolsas the main body and produce a great deal of energy consumption during the process ofproduction tasks. Energy saving of the Machine tool become the necessary way toreduce the energy consumption of the whole workshop, and reducing the energyconsumption ofone or a few auxiliary components can effectively reduce the energyconsumption of the machine tool. The paper selected a typical machine tool accessory,the chip conveyor, to begin the research work of energy saving.Amachine tool chipconveyor controlling methodology for energy saving optimization was put forward andthe paper developed a support system based on the energy saving controllingmethodology. Whole the research content mainly includes the following parts:Firstly, the paper analyzed the energy consumption of chip conveyor based on theintroduction of machine tool chip conveyor operation characteristic and its structurecomposition, and described the chip conveyor energy saving on demand combined withthe chip conveyor operation characteristic. The realization approach of the chipconveyor energy-saving controlling on demand in the machining process has beenanalyzed.Secondly, a energy-saving optimization controlling methodology of machine toolchip conveyor was put forward. In this paper, the key technology of energy-savingoptimization controlling methodology was studied, such as how to get the motoropen/stop control time points, how to minimizing theno-load energy consumption ofchip conveyor motor and how to control the chip conveyor motor during the machiningprocess. Then the structure of the methodology and the concrete implementation processis studied and the chip conveyor motor no-load power consumption optimization modelwas established. This paper described that achieve the purpose of minimizing thechip conveyor motor energy consumption could be achieved by solving the model toobtain the optimal conveying threshold.Finally, on the basis of the above research, this paper developed a set of machinetool chip conveyor energy saving optimization controlling methodology support system.This paper designed the overall structure and function modules of the system, and somekey technologies related to system was studied include analysis method of NC code,mechanism of data storage and management and the principium of data exchangebetween the support system and machine tool. Then the chip conveyor motor no-loadenergy consumption valuebefore and after the implementation of energy savingoptimization controlling methodology was compared, and verified the optimum energyconsumption chip conveying threshold is optimal.
