Purification system of the confined space is an important component to ensure the safety of thestaff inside. With the spread of mine safety and rescue work, the purification system in the minerescue capsule and the refuge chamber is of great significance. This paper makes research on the purification system of the mine rescue capsule and the refugechamber mainly with some experiments and the CFD software. Firstly, this paper analyses somecommonly used purification methods for carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide in confined space. Andunder the demand of interior circumstance in the mine rescue capsule, a certain type mine rescuecapsule is studied with some experiments, and the results of the experiments testify the way to usepurification reagents for carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, and the reliability of the purificationsystem after long-time using. The purification rate and the performance of the purification system isalso studied. Secondly, on the basis of the experiment, the software FLUENT is used to simulate thequickly-removal progress of carbon monoxide in the mine rescue capsule according to the hypothesisthat the carbon monoxide concentration ratio of outlet and inlet of purification system is a fixed value. The comparison of CFD simulation and the experiment results shows that the hypothesis is reasonable. As a result, this simulation method can be used as a kind of reference in the preliminary research ofthe similar issue. Finally, he same method is applied to the purification simulation in the refugechamber. The paper also simulates the purification process with compressed air, and give somesuggestion on the design of the purification system in the refuge chamber.Research and conclusions made in this article can provide a reference for the design andoptimization of purification systems for underground rescue equipment.
