The piano is the king of Musical Instruments and soundboard in the piano plays animportant role in its timbre. At present, the study of the piano soundboard mainly focus on itsmodal frequency. There are two kinds of methods applied to the modal frequency. One iscalculating modal analysis, the other is experiment modal analysis. Calculating modalanalysis professional demand is higher and experimental modal analysis require someexpensive devices. So it is very necessary to design a software to simplified the analysisprocess of soundboard modal.In this article, the researched object is upright piano soundboard. Adopt the method ofcalculating mode, combining the finite element analysis software ANSYS and visualprogramming software VC++the piano soundboard aided design software is developed.When the user input some intrinsic parameters of soundboard in soundboard aided designsoftware, it can quickly get the analysis result. The software also have the function of multipleanalysis. Firstly, the finite element analysis software ANSYS has been used to three differentsoundboards which have different ribs and extract the modal frequency and get the codes ofAPDL in analysis process. Then the VC++has been used to design some user interfaces aboutthe soundboard aided design software. This user interfaces included the interface of ANSYSpath and selection of startup mode, the interface of Soundboard parameter for user to input,the interface of bridle bridge parameter and ribs parameter for user to input, the interface ofribs for user to choose the numbers, the interface of ribs for user to determine the location ofribs, the interface of results for user to check. When researcher input all parameters and selectthe startup mode of ANSYS, it can generate the corresponding analysis code and control theANSYS to analyze automatically. When the analysis has been finished, user can get theresults by checking result interface.Finally, this article also verified the validity of the software. The software was used tostudy the influence of number of ribs, soundboard thickness, material density and soundboardsoundboard tree’s on modal frequency. At last, this article find that the results obtained fromaided design software are the same with the results from theoretical calculation and somerelated literature.
