Urban freight distribution is the foundation of a modern city’s survival and development, has become an important component part of city’s economy, and plays a key role in enhancingthe city’s comprehensive competitiveness and optimizing resource distribution. However, theurban freight distribution is also becoming one of main causes which threat to urban livingenvironment and social problems, brings about a series of external non-economic issues likeurban transportation、energy consumption or urban ecological environment. This paperexplores how analysis from the perspective of full life cycle and estimate the direct andindirect carbon emissions in urban freight distribution system, reveals the carbon emissions’process, measures effectively the greenhouse gas contribution level which brought by urbanfreight distribution sectors, has become a core issue in research the sustainable developmentareas. The paper based on city distribution, elaborates the related concepts and theories ofcarbon footprint and urban distribution firstly, reviews the domestic and foreign researchpresent situation of carbon footprint of urban freight distribution-related, points out the fewstudies research on carbon footprint of urban freight; Then it analyzes the factors influencingcarbon footprint of urban freight distribution systems and influence modes, introducing theurban distribution node, urban distribution channels and access factors; Then, it demonstratesand defines the boundaries of carbon footprint of urban freight distribution in detailcombining the factors, puts forward static and dynamic accounting framework for carbonfootprint of urban freight distribution which aims to provide research ideas for exploring andassessing accurately the greenhouse gas emissions; Finally, from the angles of city distribution system, distribution model, vehicle management and information platform, itgives the countermeasures to reduce the carbon footprint of urban distribution when we getcarbon emissions data.
