In order to research H2S adsorption characteristics of on coals,11typical samples werecollected from xishan coal mine in Urumchi, shegejie coal mine in Lu’an, cilinshan coal mineand licun coal mine respectively. Then experiments of coal samples were conducted such aspressured-mercury, industry analysis, coal identification, H2S isothermal adsorption and porecharacteristics. At the same time, adsorption characteristics of H2S and the difference ofadsorption characteristics between H2S, CH4and N2by coal were analysed. Besides that, thereanalyse influencing factors of H2S adsorption from internal factors including pore, mineralscomposition, maceral and coal quality as well as external ones including pressure, coalificationdegree and equilibrium water content.Concluding that pore size distribution mainly consist of less pore including transition poreand micropore in gas coal and lean coal. Adsorption of H2S on coal is a kind of physicaladsorption, and isothermal adsorption curve fits Langmuir model, which divided into threephases: fast rising phase, slow rising phase, and equilibrium phase. Order of adsorption ability oncoal is H2S>CH4>N2, which controlled by boiling point, molecular diameter and molecularpolarity of gas. Pore, maceral, bound water including Madand Me, pressure and coalificationdegree are the main controlling factors of adsorption of H2S on gas coal and lean coal.
