Stepper motor, which is a common special motor and usually used as actuators, isone of the key products of mechatronics. With the rapid development ofmicroelectronics and computer technology, the demand for stepper motor is growing.Because stepper motor has no cumulative error in running, in many areas has laid thestatus of their applications, such as textile equipment, robots, automated assemblyequipment, machine tools, medical equipment, engraving machines, optical instruments,and so on.Currently, WEDM bench basically is driven by a stepping motor, but stepper motoralso has its own shortcomings, without turning or low speed rotation, it will produce alot of unnecessary energy waste and bring a range of issues. Since the performance ofthe stepper motor depends largely on its drive control circuit, to solve these problems,so this thesis presents a low-power DSP-based stepper motor drive control system.Based on the analysis of several stepper motor drive technology, constant currentchopping control is chosen. A mathematical model of WEDM bench based on steppermotor is built, the main factors for the stepper motor driving WEDM bench are provedby this mathematical model. On this basis, a low-power DSP-based stepper motor drivecontrol system is designed, which includes the hardware design and software design.The main part of the hardware design concludes signal preprocessing module, DSPcontrol module, isolated driver module, signal feedback module, the current samplingmodule and delay module. Software is designed to receive signals from signalpreprocessing module and signal feedback module, and on the basis of these controlsignals are sent to isolate driver module at the same time. In this way stepper motor canwork with constant current and the current can be full or semi-current.According to the design of hardware and software program, complete buildingstepper motor drive control system. In order to verify the feasibility of the system,hardware modules and software programs are debugged, then the circuit is simulated bymultisim, and finally the stepper motor windings are energized, all the results show thatthe program is feasible. On the basis of these this thesis analyzes the energy-savingeffect of the system at each rotational speed.
