Tailing pond is one of the three fundamental projects of mine. It is also theindispensable auxiliary facilities in the production process of mining enterprises.Drainage system is an essential part of tailing pond and it has important significanceto the safety of tailing pond. The section size, arrangement mode and some safetyindexes are determined by hydraulic calculation of drainage system. Meanwhile thedrainage system could provide security for the management of tailing pond.There are various types of drainage system. The process of hydraulic calculationis complex and the calculate data is complicated. For the moment, there is no specificcalculation software for drainage system, this brings a lot of inconvenience for thedesign and management of tailing pound. Based on MATLAB software platform, thisarticle developed the hydraulic specifically software for drainage system of tailingpond. The main research work of the article is focused on the following aspects:(1) Introduced the general situation and hydraulic calculation of drainagesystem.(2) Based on MATLAB software platform compiled the program by M files.Realized the visualization of data input and output by the graphical interface ofhuman-computer interaction, and introduced the using method of this software.(3) Took the relevant models in ‘Tailings Facility Design Reference’ as example,made hydraulic calculation to verify the accuracy of the software.(4) Took an tailing pond as example, applied the software for hydrauliccalculation to the drainage system. According to the results evaluated the floodrequirement of the drainage system with relevant standard of tailing pond. Thisprocess tested the practicality of the software.The interface of developed software is simple to understand, also beautiful andpractical. Its results have high accuracy, could provide a large number of referencedata for design and management of drainage system. The software has a high value inuse and can be applied to practical engineering in future.
