Western gas pipeline as an important strategic channels of natural gas in our country. Thepipeline lays along through the desert, the Gobi, the water network and other topography, andpipeline laying methods are also diverse. Therefore, higher requirements are put forward forthe safe operation of the pipeline. Natural gas is flammable, explosive and easy-proliferationmedia. Pipeline rupture accidents tend to cause huge losses to surrounding environment,people’s life and property, and far-reaching adverse effects to our society. In this case, bytaking a technology research of the pipeline risk assessment, systematically anglicizing of thevarious causes of pipeline failure cause of the accident, establishing a suitable westernpipeline risk assessment model to make preventive measures to control the risk can reduceaccidents to ensure the safety of people and property countries. It has important economic andsocial significance, and provide basis for pipeline risk management decisions.First, we use the fault tree analysis method to establish a fault tree model for westernpipeline failure factors, then analyze and distinguish the main factors causing the failure ofthe pipeline. Through structural analysis of these important factors, we can find theweaknesses of the system, and provide the basis for creating and modifying the West gaspipeline risk assessment system.Secondly, based on the full investigation of our country’s West gas pipeline systemproduction running status and the risk assessment research home and abroad. We use theimprovement the of experts scoring method to assess the risk of a specific western gaspipeline system, and obtain the overall safety evaluation results of the pipeline systems. Thenwe screen risk management section of the pipeline preliminarily by risk value. Combinedpipeline risk matrix analysis, using the risk score and risk level, finally the risk result isshowed, provide the basis of pipeline maintenance and decision-making.Finally, considering the improvement of expert scoring method and fault tree model, weestablish a gas pipeline risk assessment model in the west. The model classifies the riskfactors affecting the pipeline from five aspects, namely corrosion, third party damage,incorrect operation, manufacturing and construction defects, and other geological disasters.And various risk factors hierarchical analysis structure model is established. We determine theweights of each risk factor using fuzzy analytic hierarchy process to get a more applicable riskassessment model to Western gas pipeline risk assessment.
