Researches indicated that aloe is a kind of valuable Liliaceae perennial herb, with aseries of important research values, because it contains many kinds of bioactivecomponents. This study was conducted to investigate the hypolipemic and hypoglycemiceffect in vivo and bacteriostasis of aloe anthraquinones through animal experiments, molecular experiments and microbiological tests. The contents and results are as follows:(1) After studying anti-hyperlipidemia effect of aloe anthraquinones, five organs fromthe hyperlipemia mice were separated and stored in a cryogenic refrigerator. The mRNAexpressions of MTTP and LPL with semi-quantitative PCR method were investigated toexplore the effect aloe anthraquinones on the heart, liver, spleen, kidney and lung ofhyperlipidemic mice. The results showed as follows: aloe anthraquinones could decreasethe levels of TC and LDL-C and increase HDL-C level through restraining the expressionof MTTP mRNA in heart, liver and kidney and promoting LPL mRNA expression in heart, lung and kidney, so as to achieve the effect of anti-hyperlipidemia.(2) Diabetes model was induced by intraperitoneally injection of alloxan monohydrate(150mg/kg). The alcoholic extract of aloe anthraquinones at200,400and600mg/kg andglibenclamide tablets at20mg/kg were administered to alloxan induced diabetic mice for6weeks respectively. All mice were weighed weekly and detected fasting blood glucosebiweekly, the plasma levels of INS, GC, HK were detected by diagnostic kits last day. Results showed that aloe anthraquinones significantly increased levels of INS and HK anddecreased significantly GC to improve blood glucose level and symptoms of diabetes mice.Besides, results of the three indexes all presented the dosage-reaction relationship andamong which the effect of high dosages (600mg/kg) was the best, the pharmacology couldequate glibenclamide.(3) Anthraquinone in aloe could effectively inhibit the growth of the three types ofbacteria. And the MIC and MBC of anthraquinone were as follow: MIC:0.125mg/mL toBacillus subtilis,0.25mg/mL to E. coli and S. aureus; MBC:0.5mg/mL to Bacillussubtilis,1.0mg/mL to E. coli and S. aureus.
