As a high-performance planetary roller screw linear actuators, with its uniquearchitecture and excellent performance, are used in high-end equipment. Including high-endCNC machine tools, ultra-precision instrumentation, high-end weapons and equipment,industrial robotics applications, high-end medical equipment and aerospace and other fields.Foreign has been developing for decades in basic research aspects of planetary roller screwand has launched a series of products used in many industrial areas. But our research inrelated fields is still in initial stage, the basic theory is not perfect and there isn’t a matureproduct on the market,so we still have much work to do. This paper mainly analyzed on theoperation mechanism, contact deformation, dynamic characteristics and transmissionefficiency of the planetary roller screw.Firstly, This paper maked a deep analysis on the operation mechanism of the planetaryroller screw, and was studied theoretically of its geometric relationship between theparameters and provides a preliminary theoretical formula for the planetary roller screw series.Second, build the mathematical model and numerical analysised on the contact deformationof the planetary roller screw followed by the Fractal theory, and using Matlab software todraw adiagram of planetary roller screw contacts between deformation and load, andcompared with the hertz theory. Then used the ANSYS to analysis the modal and kinematic ofthe planetary roller screw. Finally analyzed the transmission efficiency of the planetary rollerscrew, and the influencing factors such as helix angle、contacting angle were analyzed.The innovation of this paper is that as following: Make a deep analysis on the operationmechanism of the planetary roller screw. Built the mathematical modeling of the contactstiffness for planetary roller screw with the fractal theory, and then compared with the hertztheory. Then built numerical molding of the dynamic characteristic and transmissionefficiency for the planetary roller screw, and the influencing factors were analyzed anddiscussed.
