Modern solid wood furniture with its excellent material properties by the furnitureconsumption in hot pursuit of the market, and the living room furniture because of openenvironment has become the focus of the series of furniture products.In this paper, the modernsolid wood living room furniture as the research object, using the method of system science,respectively from the aspects of the use of the environment, the market situation, consumergroups and so on, through the investigation of existing products and market survey of consumergroups to visit, the summary of the existing product style characteristics and preferences ofconsumer demand, based on the study and the actual project to begin the design practices.Through research, the paper draws the following conclusion:1.Living room affected by different social environment and lifestyle, has undergone atraditional hall, western living room, a small square room and modern living room four stagessince the Ming and Qing.The user of modern living room furniture is divided into one people(single or live alone), two people (married), three people (couples and children), many people(three and the the elderly).In the main living room furniture,sofa more contact with the humanbody,and the use of different user scenarios is more obvious, but effect on the TV cabinet andtable is relatively small.2.Modern solid wood furniture mainstream brand the series products in the longitudinaldirection, showing three level array distribution, the number of mid-market product was slightlymore than the two other district.The product modeling approach, can be divided by its structureand adding auxiliary decorative elements are two ways to express design ideas.From thenumber of products and market acceptance, the structured products market mid-market andhigh-end brand competition becomes more intense in the two regions.3.The consumers of modern solid wood furniture are high-end consumer groups that havea certain market consumption capacity, tend to choose the high quality goods and pay moreattention to the commercial and cultural connotation. But the majority of consumers for solidwood furniture industry and product knowledge is not high, businesses one-sided propagandausually can influence consumer choice. The tendency of modern solid wood furniture, containsChinese traditional culture connotation and other simple fashion style of Scandinavia productsare favored by consumers.The indicators in the final purchase, product modeling design becomethe key products talent showing itself.Research shows that the entire wood furniture industry in the stage of rapid development,and the product’s market share increased year by year,but there are also such as product rawmaterial supply is constrained,product homogenization phenomenon is serious and a series ofunfavorable factors, these problems have become the industry’s development challenges.In thefuture development, under the guidance of a sustainable development strategy in line with themodern pace of life and consumer demand for the product design, will be an important direction for new product development.
