Deepwater drilling equipment is the key to develop deepwater oil and gas resources,which is also one of main bottlenecks of restricting petroleum companies in China movinginto deepwater. Poor drilling conditions require drilling rigs being equipped with advanced,efficient and reliable drilling equipment. How to select and configurate a set of cost-effectiveand highly reliable drilling system is a key issue related to the efficiency of the drillingoperation. In this paper, based on the major project―key technology and equipment fordeepwater oil and gas exploration and development in the South China Sea‖in marinetechnosphere from the "twelfth five-year"863plan, selection and configuration research ofdrilling system on deepwater semi-submersible platforms is explored, which includes thefollowing contents:Unique technological process of offshore drilling is analysed, which focuses operationsystem on one and a half derricks, riser handling and heave compensation movement. Thedilling equipment is classified as well. Which provides research foundation for selection andconstruction of drilling system.Drilling materials in pipe class and circulatory system used in deepwater drillingoperation is calculated and preliminary storage plan of drilling materials is made. Thematching calculation offers reference for deck variable load design of deepwater drillingplatform, following selection and configuration of drilling equipment, and rear supply.The principles and methods in the selection and configuration of drilling equipment isput forward; research on selection of key equipment is complete; equipment selection isoptimized using fuzzy analytic hierarchy process; detailed configuration list of drillingsystem equipment is submitted;3D models of key drilling equipment are created using the3D software SolidWorks in combination3d max software which provides model basis for digital deepwater prototype development.Information management system software for semi-submersible drilling platforms anddrilling equipment is developed by VB programming language combined with Accessdatabase software. Using this system to manage the information of the existingsemi-submersible drilling platforms and equipment, then to do information query for guidingthe configuration selection work. At the same time selection and configuration module and3D models management module aiming to the target platform is developed. Which providesbasis for selection and configuration of subsequent semi-submersible drilling platforms.
