The width-wave-type defect of quenching plate is researched in thepaper. In a heavy plate mill of steel company in China, people researchquenching plate flatness control process of pinch-roller quench, andcooling uniformity during quenching on the heavy plate mill. Then theytry to solve the problem of quenching width-wave-type defect on steelplate flatness. Study on the heavy plate mill pinch-roller quenchequipment characteristics and quenching plate width-wave-type defectfeature, it is based on the heat transfer, water mechanics, material scienceand other theories. They do several rounds of quenching experiments,many times of field finite element simulation. Meanwhile theyaccumulate qualitative description and quantitative data, combine themwith computer analysis, flow field simulation, data processing toolapplication. By comprehensive analysis of causes of width-wave-typeplate defect, improve the existing problems of equipment, to solve theproblem of quenching plate wave-type defect.
