Machining accurancy and efficiency is the main objective for the design of aMachine Tool. The machining accurancy for components is influenced directly bythe structural stiffness of a machine, and the Dynamic characteristics determines theproduction efficiency. Main factors influencing the productivity of a machine tool isthe cutting chatter in the case of large cutting data. With the study of machinestructure for finding out the weaknesses can be directed to improve the design ofdynamic of a machine tool. The advent of FEA makes series of advanced scientifictheories to be achieved and applied, which greatly promoted the development ofhuman technological capabilities. As an effective numerical method for solving engineering problems, FEA hasbeen devoleped to be important methods and tools for scientific research andengineering analysis in many areas, such as civil engineering, marine structuralengineering, aerospace and so on.Based on the research of target Floor type Boring and Milling Machine andclassical Finite Element Theory, we get the static and dynamic analytical data byrelated research with the help of DS Solidworks including CAD modeling, staticanalysis and frequency analysis, and to a certain degree, the column of thetarget-machine has been improved and optimized. Based on the relative densitymethod and topology optimization, we optimized the arrangement of column ribs byset the objective function for static stiffness and first natural frequence. And then wefinished the static analysis and dynamic analysis of target milling machine whichcontains bed, column, cross slide, parts case and slip. At last we carried out themodal experiment and the results of FEA are successfully validated with the help ofJM5930equipment.
