Through the research of introducing pressure swing adsorption method, therecycling and utilization of tail gas from the VCM rectifying during PVC productionwere investigated by calcium carbide process in this thesis. To study the set standardof pressure swing adsorption process, and to explore the disposal of abnormalsituations under device operation, the absorption rate of tail gas and the operationparameters were performed, which make the tail gas contents reach the nationalemission standards. Meanwhile, the hydrogen from the tail gas after the first steptreatment is to be recovered via further application of the pressure swing adsorptionmethod. The results show that the volume fraction of vinyl chloride concentration inthe product with≤2×10-6, volume fraction of acetylene concentration in the productwith≤2×10-6, and hydrogen purity of the recycled gas with≥99%were obtained aftertail gas treatment through two sets of the pressure swing adsorption unit.Pressure swing adsorption device was operated under automatic control, runningstably, and is easy to be operated and flexibility. This equipment installing SIMATICS7-300PLC control system and being no effect on VCM rectification processing aresimple and convenient with the START/STOP operation, remote controlling available, easy to regulation. Furthermore, the adsorbent can be regenerated without anyexternal conditions and regenerated completely, which avoids safety risks resultingfrom oxygen from the air and is pollution-free. The device unit owns very good safetyperformance. The paper also involves preliminary investigation of the benefits of the recoveredtail gas through pressure swing adsorption method. It should have significanteconomic and social benefits.
