With continuous upgrading and progress of machine technology, continuousupgrading of machining products and aging of machine and equipment, machineswill go through different scraps after being used for some periods. While thescraps of those mechanical parts which can be reutilized leads to huge waste ofsociety recourses. Thus it has become a new economic growth point toremanufacturing, optimize and upgrade scrapped and old machines by utilizinghigh and new technology in order to make them recycled and reutilized for hugemarket demands.Rapid6K machine for rotating shaft machining is a large machineequipment of HEC which was introduced from Waldrich Coburg Company ofGermany. It has become aging seriously and was of high rate of faults after beingused for many years. Thus it has influenced the product quality as well asmanufacturing progress seriously, and cannot meet the manufacturing demands,finally facing scrapped. Under the circumstances, HEC decided toremanufacturing Rapid6K machine, optimize and upgrade CNC system andmachining function after investigation, research and analysis to maximizeflexible and multiple machining ability.Technical difficulties for this reformation project include reformation ofspindle hydrostatic bearing, developing and testing of the functional attachmenthead,design of CNC system,etc.Based on the above, this subject has put deep analysis and research on thedifficulties in this machine remanufacturing one by one and has also put forwardthe best solution. After the remanufacturing of Rapid6K machine for rotatingshaft processing, we performed the acceptance of geometric accuracy andpositioning accuracy, and sample machining on the machine. The result provesthat each accuracy index and comprehensive performance of the machine havereached the standard of new machine and can totally meet the manufacturingdemands, thus realized the maximization of machine automation. Meantime, thetotal cost of reformation, optimization and upgrading of Rapid6K machine is only one third of that of purchasing new machine, thus enormously savemanufacturing cost.
