A new kind of graft copolymerization method, in-situ chlorinating graftcopolymerization (ISCGC),which has been applied to the modification of PP、PE andPVC. We synthesized CPE-g-MAH in this method, and then prepared chlorinatedpolyethylene ionomer after reaction with alkali, finally we made the ionomer into a newkind of thermoplastic elastomer. The chlorination and graft copolymerization of thepolymer happened at the same time by combining the two reaction. Degradation andcross-link reaction can be inhibited efficiently due to the low temperature of ISCGC, andthe GD of graft copolymer is higher than tradition. Elastomer prepared by this methodcreated a new preparation method for chlorinated polyethylene.Firstly, we prepared chlorinated polyethylene modified by carboxylic acid. Theeffects of reaction condition, including reaction temperature, SiO2content, MAH contentetc, on graft degree (GD) of PE-cg-MAH were investigated. The results of FT-IR,1H-NMR indicated the existence of CPE-g-MAH, which verified the feasibility to modifyHDPE with MAH by ISCGC.Secondly, we prepared chlorinated polyethylene ionomer. By mechanical propertytest,we investigation the effect on the properties of ionomer,include thin passing time,the kind of ion, neutralization degree, prepared temperature. The structure of ionomer wascharacterized by FT-IR, SEM, TEM, which verified the existence of ionic aggregationstructure. And we tested the properties of ionomer by DSC.Finally, we prepared a kind of thermoplastic elastomer by this ionomer. Bymechanical property test,we investigation the effect on the properties of ionomer,includethin passing time, prepared condition. The elongation, compression, low temperature performance all complied with industry standards, the result indicated that this ionomercan prepared into a kind of thermoplastic elastomer.
