Forcing the tight steel market as well as increasingly fierce competition between iron and steel enterprises, Cold-rolled products which can bring huge economic benefits to company. But for the1220cold continuous rolling mill, the effective operating rate is much lower than many similar at home and abroad. According to the statistics of2009, on average, the auxiliary time of cold continuous rolling mill is87.6hours every month, accounting for60.7%of the total downtime(including planed downtime, equipment failure time, maintenance time and auxiliary time).So, it becomes the immediate work to increase yield for cold continuous rolling mill that reduce the auxiliary time of production.In order to improve the auxiliary time according to the principle of project management, in this paper, we research on the main steps during the specific implementation. First, according to the introduce and analysis of the present situation, we point out the problems of the control for the assistant time when the1220tandem cold rolling mill is working. And then, considering the facts, we use the Six Sigma DMAIC method and some statistics tools, such as brainstorming method, Plato, shark fin figure, causal matrix, flow charts, control charts (single value chart), analysis of variance, force analysis, SEMD (the single-peak changing mould) etc, to make sure the significant factors affecting the auxiliary time of cold continuous rolling mill production, put forward the improvements, formulate and verify the implementation through experiment, and then make a evaluation for the process capability and sigma level after implementing the new technology. Finally, we give a outlook to the future of the promoting for this conclusion.
