FCC slurry oil have high concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which could be ideal material for some high value-added products. But the high solid content in slurry restricted the subsequent product development and utilization. The catalyst particle in FCC slurry can be effectively removed by a process of washing-demulsification-flocculating under an ultrasound wave. The temperature of sedimentation and sedimentation separator inside is the key to the technical engineering process. In this paper, on the basis of the prophase of removing solids from Sinopec Maoming slurry in the pilot test, two parts of design research were carried out, including basic process package design and the optimal design of internals in settlement of oil-water separator. Laid the foundation for this technology engineering.Based on the basic process design, Aspen software is used to simulate process, and operating conditions of the settlement of oil-water separator and heat exchanger are optimized. After calculation, heat transfer area of heat exchanger is0.11m2, the heat load is3.08kW. Pressure in the separator has no effect on separation effect, a suitable operating temperature is130℃. In the slurry, water content is less than375ppm, and solid content is less than161ppm.Fluent is used to simulate concentration field and flow field of the settlement of oil-water separator. In the800x3200horizontal gravity separator, the study found that:(1) The addition of over-pass could increase the oil phase concentration. The optimal position is25cm and height is48cm;(2) Installed inlet internals can improve uniformity of internal flow field. After comparing the one-way baffle type, both-way baffle type, low inlet box type and high inlet box type, the effect of low inlet box type is better, and it could create more separating space for separator;(3) Based on the analysis and comparison of four kinds of coalescence plates (flat plate, corrugated plate, S-shaped opposite plate and S-shaped reverse plate), S-shaped opposite plate is selected as the separator’s internal structure, and the optimal plate distance is40mm. With all the above conditions, the concentration of oil phase is99.999%(vf) in the simulated separator.
